Announced at the 2015 D23 Expo, the game was developed and published by Gameloft. They've mixed it up a little by adding an extra step and effectively taking away the secondary currency when you actually get something you want, and they've made it possible to grind out elixirs (which is often not possible for equivalent currencies in other games), but this is fairly standard practice-as is making certain items exclusive to the lockbox-secondary-currency, so the only reliable way to get them is to buy a lot of lockboxes. Disney Magic Kingdoms is a mobile and computer game in which the player can build their own virtual Disney Parks with multiple attractions around the world. This is equivalent to other F2P games' secondary lockbox currencies you pay real money to open the lockboxes and you always get a little of the secondary currency (decoration, concession => elixir) and you maybe get something good (attraction) but probably get trash (e.g.: magic & happiness). They want you to spend money on gems, spend gems on chests, convert unwanted chest rewards to elixirs, and spend elixirs on Alien/attractions/etc. Elixirs are effectively the secondary currency of the chests.
